This post is to report my indignation with Rockstar and Epic Games who prevented me from playing a game I purchased because of a compatibility error with serving Social Club accounts.
It all started when I saw on social media that the game Red Dead Redemption 2 was on sale at Epic Games. As I really wanted to purchase the game, I thought it was a great opportunity to take advantage of the price and buy it.
So, I bought the game and spent more than 2 hours downloading it, eager to play.
When the download finally finished, I opened the game, the Social Club login screen appeared and when I tried to use my email and password to log in I came across the following error:
This Social Club account is already linked to a different Steam account. Log out and log back into Steam using the account linked to that Social Club account.
At first I thought it might just be a basic problem that would be resolved if I went to Steam and entered the Social Club there, but things were worse than I imagined.
I tried everything I could to get my social club account linked to Steam to open the game, but I couldn’t.
So I looked online for how to solve the problem and came across several people having the same error and no response from Rockstar or Epic Games.
The tip that people on the internet said would work was to contact Rockstar support to unlink my Steam account and maybe everything would work later.
So I went to the Rockstar support page, opened a ticket reporting the problem, but after that I noticed that the website itself states that the deadline for responding to the request would take more than 24 hours.
But what do you mean I BOUGHT the game and I won’t be able to play until support resolves a problem they created themselves? Additionally, I saw some posts on the Reclame Aqui website from people saying that support hadn’t responded for days…
I was so irritated by this situation that I refused to wait and abandoned the purchase asking Epic Games for my money back.
I was so disappointed with all of this that I decided to write this post. Will it do any good? NO. But at least I got it off my chest.
